Safety Glass vs Hardened Glass?

I found some thicker glass in my uncle's garage. I need to replace the glass tops in his lawn furniture. I don't know if it is safety glass or hardened glass. I think it is from the 60's or 70's.
How do I tell the difference?
If it is hardened thicker about 3/8" how do I cut it?
